Cecilia Hynes Griffin is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds a law degree from Loyola University in Chicago. Cecilia began practicing law in 1990 at Rudnick and Wolfe, now known as DLA Piper, in the areas of environmental and real estate law. Since 1993 she has practiced family law exclusively and, in 2003, formed Griffin & McCarthy, LLP, as one of two founding partners. Now known as Griffin McCarthy & Rice LLP, the firm is a nine attorney boutique law firm practicing exclusively in the area of family law.
Cecilia has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer in the area of family law by Law & Politics. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Admission to this national organization requires extensive oral and written testing, and peer and judicial recommendations. Cecilia also has served on the Board of Managers of the Illinois Chapter of the Academy. In addition, Cecilia has served on the Family Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association and was the editor of the Section’s family law newsletter. Cecilia is a frequent lecturer and has authored numerous articles on family law topics.
Cecilia is frequently appointed by the Circuit Court of Cook County to act as a child representative in custody and visitation proceedings. In addition to her extensive litigation experience, Cecilia is a trained mediator, is certified to practice collaborative law and is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute.
